Craft day with kids

Quinn was mixing colors really well! Look at how nice her "Pallette" plate looks!

Sir Wil was just having fun using a brush with paint
 Mina was practicing her washes

Ms. Quinn with the butterflies she traced with sharpie and cut out all by herself.

Finishing the Quote series

Rob picked the quote and pic for me. The picture I found for Rob was... well, the best one I could find. I need to take more pictures. I'm not sure I consider any of this awesome design, but I have to admit that it felt refreshing to do it. I love to play with type. And if nothing else, it's experience working with kearning, leading, and matching various typefaces together. I do not like Verdana at all. So it's what I used for boring. It was a toss-up between Times New Roman and Verdana. I remember the people at school really really really considered Papyrus "Of the Devil" but it seemed so appropriate for age-old wisdom for Rob's quote. On another typeface note, I would have used "Fairies Wear Boots" for the "madness is genius" bit of the quote, but it really wasn't readable. /sadface.

Sir Wil

Here's Wil!

Quinn's Turn

Being sick forced some time off from playing, but here is my homage to my one and only blue-eyed baby!

And here's M

Yes, I reused the same picture I used in her baptism keepsake, but it's a great pic of her. She's just too cute.

Not on my to-do list

Or my idea list, either. But I started doing these today because I found it relaxing. And I didn't have to worry about Roadshow practices or Girl Scout cookie booths or Young Women activities or the young women themselves. Or even my kids, for that matter. Nothing but me, Photoshop, and InDesign, playing with typefaces. I don't care if it's the fad nowadays. I don't care if everyone's doing it. It completely made me happy :)  I will do more again tomorrow when I find the right quotes for each of them.

And another

I am not sure how well this turned out, I haven't looked at it outside of InDesign yet, but as it's after 2 a.m. I'll worry more about that tomorrow. gnight.

quotes

yeah, yeah... I'm jumping on the quote bandwagon. But I loved this quote, so I played for a  bit in photoshop and InDesign with it.

Portfolio site

Since I do not feel like learning how to program, I simply created another Blog for my portfolio. The great thing about this is that I can add to it whenever I want. Here, I can post sketches and thoughts, there I will post finished work that I feels reflects my best efforts. There is a whole series of posters I did for the youth that I wish I could post there, but I cannot. With that said, here is my portfolio site now :)  It's simple, but it works.

In other news, I have purchased the 3x3 wood sheets for paintings. I have borrowed the dremel bit kit that I need to texturize the board the way I want it. I've got the housework done to a point I'm ok with leaving it, and am now going to go play in my workshop in the basement with power tools! Off I go to sand, texturize, and stain before I get down to the nitty-gritty of painting.
